"Mittens" by Poetry Chick

Mittens

Strapped tight to the hand
covering bare skin,
children throw them about

once they've reached
the white kingdom
beyond the doorstep.

Bending,stretching,creases form
but it doesn't matter,
they hold their place, wet but firm.

Young children hopping about
jackets flying, faces burnt
with a red velvet smile

When the day is done,
they will be placed
high to dry

Preparing for
their next adventure
